NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson finds himself living a family nightmare after his two in-laws and nephew were found dead at their Oklahoma home in what local police are investigating as a murder-suicide.
In information released exclusively by the TMZ portal and later replicated in world media, Johnson had to withdraw from the NASCAR Cup this coming weekend due to the family tragedy.
According to statements by the Muskogee police, Chandra Janway’s parents, Jack and Terry Janway, Johnson’s in-laws, as well as his 11-year-old nephew Dalton Janway, were the deceased found at the residence after a woman called to 911 assuring that someone had a firearm.
In fact, the authorities indicated that they do not know both the author of the act and the identity of who called the emergency service.
However, they have reason to believe that Jack was the one who contacted the police officers while Terry was presumably the suspect.
Apparently, after committing the crime and shooting Jack and Dalton, Terry would have taken his life in a different location inside the house where he supposedly killed his wife and nephew.
The event is being thoroughly investigated and at the moment they are evaluating several hypotheses, although they have not confirmed or denied some of them.
For his part, Johnson has not issued a public statement on the situation, but it is expected that he will prioritize his privacy at this time of mourning, so the date on which he will be back on the slopes is unknown.
In total, Johnson has been a seven-time Nascar Cup champion and his family is made up of Chandra, whom he married in 2004, and their two daughters, Genevieve and Lydia.
