what-would-have-to-happen-for-the-new-york-yankees-to-put-shohei-ohtani-and-aaron-judge-together?

There is still a little more than a month to go until the major league trade deadline and the possible departure of Shohei Ohtani from the Los Angeles Angels is more present than ever. One of the teams that the Japanese could reach would be the New York Yankees. This would mean putting the Japanese together with Aaron Judge and creating a duo made up of two of the best baseball players today, but what would have to happen for Ohtani to reach New York?

This movement depends on several factors. The main one would be that the Angels are willing to trade the versatile player and this is something that they have already considered, but first it would have to happen that the Californian team has no real chances of advancing to the playoffs.

Currently the Angels have a positive record of 43 wins and 37 losses, they are third in the West Division of the American League and they are only 5 games behind the leadership held by the Texas Rangers.

However, before the trade deadline this situation could change and at that point Angels management could start negotiating a trade with a team for Ohtani.

Wait for free agency

If the Angels are still in the playoff race by the end of July, Ohtani will stay and if the Yankees want to acquire him they will have to wait until the offseason and shell out a million-dollar amount of money to sign him as a free agent.

The hypothetical arrival of Ohtani to the Yankees would solve several problems for the Bronx team, the first having a reliable arm that accompanies Gerrit Cole in the rotation and on the other hand a powerful left-handed bat, which together with Judge, would be one of the most feared offenses in the league. Several insiders say Ohtani could easily win a $500 million contract. So the Yankees would have to come out of some high salaries to bring in the Japanese.

For now, the Yankees are still in the race in their Division, in which they are third, 9.5 games behind the lead and with a record of 43 wins and 35 losses. The New York team currently has the highest payroll in all of Major League Baseball, so being left out of the playoffs would mean a reconsideration by the franchise board.
