The owner of a lottery ticket sold in Scarborough, Canada, has yet to claim the C$70 million (about US$52 million) prize. Today is the last day for him to do it.
According to a spokesperson for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming, no one has claimed the jackpot prize from a LOTTO MAX drawing that took place on June 28, 2022. The deadline to claim the jackpot is today, one year after the draw date.
The ticket that won the $70 million prize was purchased at a licensed lottery shop in Scarborough. The winning numbers for the Lotto Max draw were 8, 19, 22, 41, 42, 46, 47, and the Bonus number 10.
“We hope that if someone tries to validate the ticket, they do it before 10:30 p.m.,” Tony Bitonti, OLG’s Director of Media Relations, told CityNews 680 news portal.
A month ago, Bitoni raised the possibility that the holder of the winning ticket has died.
“We have had customers pass away before claiming smaller prize tickets,” he said.
“There are a million scenarios that could happen. We just hope that the customer is still around and maybe kept the ticket somewhere in a jacket, in the glove box or in the junk drawer in the kitchen,” Bitoni added.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming is hoping someone will show up to claim the prize money.
