Renowned British filmmaker Sir Ridley Scott owned a historic mansion in Hampstead, London for 15 years. During that time, he did some remodeling and in 2013 he sold it to its current owner.
Now, the castle-like residence has re-entered the real estate market at a cost of $35.6 million.
Originally this property, known as Old Grove House, was built in the 18th century, but in recent years it has undergone a series of renovations that keep the place in pristine condition.
Among the renovations are those made by the director, who for 15 years used this residence as his and his family’s home. You have to remember that Scott is the man behind hit movies like ‘Blade Runner’ and ‘Gladiator’.
According to specialized media, the filmmaker began the remodeling process in 2010 and for that he hired a first-rate team of specialists.
‘Dirt.com’ reports that the property underwent a complete renovation in 1912, led by Arts and Crafts architects and urban planners Parker & Unwin. Then, in 1959, it was remodeled again but on a smaller scale.
The main house has an extension of 7,585 square feet distributed over four floors with eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms, hall, living room, main room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room and other amenities.
Although it has been renovated several times, this property still maintains details of its original construction. For example: sash windows, wooden shutters, paneled rooms and stone fireplaces.
In addition to the main house there is a guest house with a bedroom and a bathroom. There is also a garage and space to park on the street, so the new owner can be visited by his family and friends.
Outside the property has green areas with well-kept gardens.
