The former president of the United States, Donald Trump, again questioned one of his Republican political opponents: Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida and presidential candidate. On this occasion, Trump assured that DeSantis “copied” all of his proposals regarding immigrants in the US.

In an interview offered to Semafor this Tuesday, Trump assured that DeSantis’s plan “was his plan.” “I mean, he basically copied everything I said, the catch-and-release thing, finishing the wall,” Trump said.

DeSantis recently proposed several proposals related to immigration issues, as well as his intention to complete the border wall, end birthright citizenship and carry out mass deportations of undocumented individuals, should he be elected as president in the next elections of 2024.

“As president, I will declare a national emergency on day one,” Governor DeSantis said, adding, “I will not rest until the wall is built, illegal entry is stopped, and the war against the drug cartels is won. Without excuses. We will do it”.

Despite having vowed to eliminate birthright citizenship if he wins the White House, DeSantis would need the court’s help to accomplish this goal.

Trump’s words carry some truth in the sense that many of the proposals made by DeSantis had already been made by the former Republican president.

In fact, on May 30, Trump promised to eliminate birthright citizenship in the event that he is re-elected as president of the United States.

He warned, in fact, that it would be the first thing he would do if he reached the White House.

However, according to experts consulted by The Hill, doing this would not be so simple, since a president does not have the right to eliminate this amendment by executive decree.

The reason for this is that this amendment is in the US Constitution.

Likewise, Trump had promised to complete the wall on the US-Mexico border earlier. He even assured that it would only take him 6 months to return the country to the way it was before Joe Biden became president of the United States.
