The outrage in France reached the selection. Forward Kylian Mbappé and defender Jules Koundé, players for Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona, respectively, spoke out this Tuesday about the death of a 17-year-old boy allegedly at the hands of a police officer in Nanterre, on the outskirts of Paris.

“I feel bad for my France. An unacceptable situation. All my thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Naël, this little angel who left too soon, ”Mbappé wrote on his Twitter account.

For his part, Koundé had a few more extensive words about the event, reflecting on the situation: “A 17-year-old boy shot dead at point-blank range by a police officer for refusing to obey during a control. This is the reality of the situation and it is dramatic. As if this new police error was not enough, the news channels continue to make a big scandal”, the footballer began on his Twitter account.

“The ‘journalists’ who ask ‘questions’ with the sole objective of distorting the truth, criminalizing the victim and finding mitigating factors where there are none are disconnected from reality. A method as old as the world to hide the real problem.¿ And if we turn off the TV for a while to find out?” Koundé stated.

A young man identified as Nahel was stopped by two policemen who were traveling on a motorcycle and was shot at point-blank range while trying to flee from them. According to the first police version, the teenager collided with the two policemen who were riding a motorcycle, but a video shows the policeman pointing directly at the young man next to the driver’s window while the other policeman spoke to him on the same side.

As can be seen in the video, the shot occurred at the moment the young man accelerated the car, without apparently posing a direct threat to the integrity of the policemen, which was initially argued by the 38-year-old policeman who pulled the trigger and his partner, who are currently detained.

This fact generated a wave of protests and riots in Nanterre and several cities on the outskirts of Paris, leaving more than 30 detainees so far, according to Le Parisien.
