“it-would-be-an-honor-to-play-alongside-him”,-klay-thompson-assesses-the-possible-arrival-of-chris-paul-to-golden-state-warriors

Even without being official, it is very possible that veteran point guard Chris Paul will reach the Golden State Warriors for next season. In a trade that would send Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards.

Paul may have one last chance to win the much-awaited NBA ring and what better scenario than to do it together with the “Splash Brothers” in a team like Golden State, which has been the biggest winner in the league in the last 10 years.

If the change takes place, Paul could put together a trident with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson which would be very competitive to aspire to a new championship. Thompson himself commented in an interview for the newspaper The Athletic how he sees the arrival of CP3 to the team.

“He is one of the best players of my generation, for me it would be an honor to play alongside him”, was the first impression of the shooting guard. On the other hand, he commented on the rivalry they had in the past, where they met on several occasions.

“It’s a little weird because we’ve had so many battles in the past with Chris and he’s led a lot of teams that have nearly eliminated or shut us out since 2014. I think he’ll just add a very reassuring presence and leadership component that we need. I know that he and Steph have a long history together, both from North Carolina. For me, it’s going to be a smooth change to play with a passer and playmaker like that, I’m excited,” Klay explained.

Last season with the Phoenix Suns, Paul played in 59 games and averaged 14 points, 9 assists and 4 rebounds per game. His team advanced to the playoffs as the fourth in the Western Conference, but lost in the semifinals to the champions Denver Nuggets.

Curry didn’t see it coming

Stephen Curry is a 100% competitive player and in previous years he had a healthy competition with Paul to determine who is the best. This unexpected turn in which Chris Paul shares a team with him, is something that he did not see coming.

“If you had asked us six months ago if this was something that could happen, the answer probably would have been no because of where we were. But then summer comes and you try to find ways to improve and put yourself in a position to win another championship. Every team CP has been on has gotten better. That’s the most consistent thing about him, who he is and what he brings to the team. Everyone is going to talk about age. It’s up to us to put all that together and figure out how all the pieces work,” Curry launched.
