The Senegalese Sadio Mané broke the silence on the situation with his teammate at Bayern Munich, the German Leroy Sané. Speaking to the Senegalese medium 2sTV, Mané assured that this “type of thing can happen. It happened and we were able to fix it. It’s good to solve problems, but not this way.”
The African soccer player assured that the issue “is already in the past. We will try to fight together to help the club achieve its objectives next season”. As reported at the time, Mané punched Sané in the face after Bayern Munich’s 3-0 defeat against Manchester City in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals last season, competition that the English team would end up winning after beating Inter Milan in the final.
After succeeding at English Liverpool, Mané arrived at Bayern Munich two seasons ago but had a first below expectations due to injuries that even caused him to miss the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“Now I am on vacation with the family. It has been a very difficult season, as it happens. It was not a surprise, I expected things to be a bit complicated. It is normal. I love challenges and Bayern is a great challenge. It is up to me to do everything possible to face it,” Mané added in statements to the station.
Finally, Mané, who has received offers from Arab soccer, ruled out wanting to leave the Bundesliga. “God willing, if everything goes well, I’m going back to Bayern,” said the striker.
As revealed in the German medium Bild, Mané owes his continuity in the Bavarian team thanks to the fact that the German soccer player interceded on his behalf before the board that tried to separate him from the team. Back then, the Senegalese was fined 500,000 euros, about $545,000, and was suspended for one match.
