judge-proposes-a-five-game-sanction-for-the-uruguayan-fede-valverde-for-attacking-a-villarreal-player

A little less than three months after the controversial episode in which Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde attacked Villarreal player Álex Baena in the parking lot of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, the examining magistrate in the case has finally proposed a sanction for the Uruguayan.

After the respective investigations of the case, the judge has proposed to the LaLiga Competition Committee, a total of five suspension matches for Valverde for the attack committed against Baena on April 8.

Based on this proposal, which was also sent to Real Madrid, the Competition Committee is expected to make a decision in the next few hours and issue the punishment it deems fair for the South American, one that will surely be appealed by the ‘Merengue’ team .

This sanction must be fulfilled at the start of the 2023/2024 LaLiga season and in the event that Real Madrid is not favored in the appeal, the matches that would be lost will be against Athletic Club de Bilbao, Almería, Celta de Vigo, the three away games with which Carlo Ancelotti’s team starts, plus the duels against Getafe and Real Sociedad.

In the event that the Competition Committee decides to accept the judge’s proposal and maintains only a five-match suspension, the Uruguayan will be able to return to action in the derby against Atlético de Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on the weekend of 23 or 24 September.

The sanction has been delayed in time after the complaint by Álex Baena for the alleged aggression he suffered in the parking area of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, where he was attacked by Fede Valverde next to the Villarreal bus, in a clash that began in the confrontation in King’s Cup in January.
