A woman in North Carolina told her son that he would win big with a lottery ticket, he ended up getting $200,000 with a Scratch-Off ticket.
“I told him, ‘I’m going to win this,’” Shannon Overby told North Carolina Education Lottery officials. “I declared it to the universe,” added the graceful.
A statement from the entity released last Thursday detailed that Overby bought a $5 card for the game “The Price is Right” last month at a gas station in Marathon, near Mayodan.
The woman scratched the ticket at home and discovered that her “prediction” came true.
“I almost passed out in the kitchen,” the woman recounted. “Then I hugged my son,” she added.
The lucky woman considered that life rewarded her for the hard moments she has faced, such as the loss of family members and health problems.
“I want people to know that staying positive through trials and tribulations makes you win in the end,” the woman advised.
“Stay positive and you will receive it back,” he said.
After paying state and federal taxes, the player was left with $142,501 dollars.
Overby plans to use the money to pay for his car, help the local funeral home and an animal shelter, and put the remainder in a savings account.
The “The Price is Right” game debuted in October of last year with four top prizes of $200,000. Overby’s was the last available jackpot.
