Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, is urging his country to legalize medical marijuana to help those suffering the “trauma of war” with Russia.
Zelensky addressed Ukraine’s parliament on Wednesday, calling on members to legalize medical cannabis as a therapeutic option for Ukrainians who have endured more than a year of war with Russia since it invaded in February 2022.
“We must finally legalize cannabis-based medicines fairly for all those who need them, with proper scientific research and controlled Ukrainian production,” Zelensky told members of parliament.
“All the best practices in the world, all the most effective policies, all the solutions, however difficult or unusual they may seem to us, must be applied to Ukraine so that Ukrainians, all our citizens, do not have to endure pain. the stress and trauma of war,” added the Ukrainian president.
Ukraine approved substances containing THC and CAD, dronabinol and nabiximols, for medical use in April 2021. Cationic amphiphilic drugs include a variety of drugs including antidepressants, antibiotics, antipsychotics, and many other types.
It is worth mentioning that last year, the Ukrainian government announced its support for the decriminalization of medical marijuana.
“The cabinet supported the bill on the regulation of the circulation of plants of the genus cannabis for medical, industrial and scientific purposes and the creation of conditions for the expansion of patients’ access to the necessary treatment of oncological conditions and stress disorder. combat-induced post-traumatic trauma, Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Lyashko said in 2022.
Zelensky’s support for the legalization of medical cannabis also remains consistent, as demonstrated in 2019, during his presidential campaign, when he said it would be “normal” to allow people access to cannabis “drops.”
