Congressmen from the Republican Party in the House of Representatives are requesting interviews with officials who are investigating Hunter Biden, the son of US President Joe Biden. This was reported by the news portal The Hill.
Specifically, the congressmen leading this request are Jim Jordan, Republican-elect for the state of Ohio; James Comer, Republican-elect from Kentucky (who is also chair of the House Controllership Committee); and Jason Smith, Republican-elect from the state of Missouri.
The request includes an interview with David Weiss, the US Attorney for the State of Delaware who led the investigation, as well as Rep. Lesley Wolf. They also requested an interview with the US Attorney for DC, Matthew Graves.
Similarly, the Republican congressmen asked to interview a large number of officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the Department of of Justice.
The request was made through a formal letter sent to Merrick Garland, the United States Attorney General.
“The testimonies of the IRS informants raise serious questions about the commitment of the Department (of Justice) to deliver justice, as well as the veracity of the assertions made to the Committee on Judiciary Affairs (of the House of Representatives),” the letter indicates. sent to Garland, according to The Hill.
Congressional Republicans have indicated they want to examine the whistleblowers’ claims that the Hunter Biden investigation “was purposely slowed down” and “was subject to inappropriate, politically motivated interference.”
This accusation was dismissed by Hunter Biden’s lawyers.
Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to two federal misdemeanors for willful failure to pay federal income taxes.
Similarly, the son of the US president reached an agreement with prosecutors to solve a serious crime with weapons.
The agreement between Hunter Biden, son of US President Joe Biden, and US prosecutors sparked controversy within the Republican Party (GOP).
For example, Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace opined that Biden only received “a slap on the wrist” for his crimes.
