jose-mourinho-rejected-a-million-dollar-offer-to-direct-in-the-saudi-arabian-league

The Saudi Arabian league continues its task of attracting high-level players in Europe by offering million-dollar salaries. Now it seems that they are going for the coaches and the latest reports indicate that the Al Hilal team offered José Mourinho a mega contract to lead the club.

The information was revealed by the journalist Fabrizio Romado, who also indicates that the Arab club put $32 million net dollars per season on the table of the Portuguese coach. However, the DT of Roma rejected the proposal.

If he accepted the proposal, Mourinho would have become the second highest paid coach in football; surpassing even Pep Guardiola and only falling behind Diego Simeone by a difference of just $4 million dollars.

Mou currently receives $10 million per season as Roma coach, so Arabia’s proposal tripled the current salary of the coach, who has a contract with the Italian entity until the end of next season.

The Special One, as they usually nickname him, comes from losing the Europa League final against Sevilla, in the Italian Serie A he was in sixth place and obtained a place to play in the next European competition. Mou’s greatest achievement with “Loba” was winning the Conferece League in the 2021/2022 campaign, which meant Roma’s first continental title.

Al Hilal strengthens

The Riyadh team finished last season in third position in the Saudi championship, this year they want to compete against the great additions made by Ittihad (Benzema and Kanté) and Al Nassr with Hakim Ziyech plus the permanence of Cristiano Ronaldo.

It must be remembered that Al Hilal recently tried to sign Lionel Messi by offering a salary never seen before in football. After the Argentine’s rejection, the club has already signed attacker Rúben Neves and defender Kalidou Koulibaly, both from the English Premier League.
