Despite a restraining order in place, a California man allegedly ignored the legal barrier and fatally stabbed the mother of his children, an act witnessed by her two little ones.
Rodrigo Bravo, 32, turned himself in to the Salinas Police Department following the incident, leading to his arrest on murder charges related to the death of 30-year-old Eleni Tavau, according to a department news release.
Additional charges include felony child endangerment, violation of probation and violation of a domestic violence restraining order, as stated in a news release.
The incident occurred on June 25 at approximately 3:00 p.m., prompting a quick response from officers who were dispatched to a residence on Natividad Road. At the scene, they discovered Tavau with multiple stab wounds and unresponsive, with her two young children present.
Immediate medical attention was provided to Tavau before she was rushed to a hospital; unfortunately, despite her efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
Subsequent investigations revealed that Tavau had obtained a restraining order against Bravo.
Later that same day, Bravo was arrested after allegedly confessing to the crime. It should be noted that Bravo is also the father of Tavau’s children, according to a GoFundMe campaign organized by his family.
According to the campaign, Eleni Tavau was tragically stabbed to death by the father of her children, leaving three children without a mother. The family aims to provide him with a proper burial in her native Samoa.
Bravo is currently being held on $1 million bail, according to KRON4, and it is not known at this time if he has pleaded guilty or acquired legal representation to comment on his behalf. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
