‘Treason in Friendship’ premieres in Spanish Repertoire
Repertorio Español presents the premiere of three productions from the Spanish Golden Age as part of the Van Lier scholarship for young directors sponsored by The New York Community Trust. To start, this Friday, June 30 and until July 9, “La Traición en la Amistad” premieres, by María de Zayas y Sotomayor and directed by Ana Luz Zambrana. It is a different work from the usual of the Golden Age, because it changes the traditional gender roles and focuses on the complexities of female friendship. It begins with two friends sharing a love for the same man, which quickly turns into a tangle of love triangles, betrayals and deceit, letting us see how women can seduce and betray with the same cruelty as the typical male heartthrob. Repertorio Español is located at 138 East 27thStreet, between Lexington and Third Avenues. For showtimes and tickets, visit: www.repertorio.nyc

New on Broadway: “Once Upon A One More Time”
Creative, fun, vibrant, original, are the words that come to mind to describe the new Broadway musical, “Once Upon A One More Time”, which has songs by Britney Spears as its soundtrack. But be careful, the work is not based at all on the life of the queen of pop, but rather tells the funny story of Cinderella and several of the protagonists of the most famous fairy tales (Snow White, Little Red Hood, Rapunzel, The Little Mermaid, etc), who, tired of the classic phrase “And they lived happily ever after”, decide to change the traditional ending of their stories. Tracks like “Oops I Did It Again” “Lucky” “Circus” and “Toxic” keep the energetic cast of singers and dancers upbeat, led by Briga Heelan (“Great News,” “Ground Floor”) as Cinderella, Justin Guarini (“American Idol,” Wicked) as Prince Charming and Aisha Jackson (Frozen, Paradise Square) as Snow White. Direction and choreography by Keone and Mari Madrid (Beyond Babel, Karate Kid, Justin Bieber, BTS), and written by Jon Hartmere (bare, The Upside). At the Marquis Theater Box Office (210 W 46th Street). Tickets: www.onemoretimemusical.com
