Paris Saint-Germain are in all the headlines again but this time for the wrong reasons. Christophe Galtier, who is still a coach for the Parisian team, was arrested this Friday along with his son John Valovic for being involved in alleged acts of discrimination and racism.
According to what was reported by Le Parisien, the PSG coach is making statements with his son to the judicial police of the French city of Nice after being denounced by Julien Fournier, former sports director of OGC Nice, when Galtier led the team in the 2021-2022 season.
The investigation, reports Le Parisien, began on April 13 after a series of emails from Julien Fournier addressed to the OGC Nice leadership were leaked, where the former sports director would have exposed what Galtier told him about the team: “Then he replied that I had to take into account the reality of the city and that, in fact, we could not have so many blacks and Muslims in the team (…) He told me about his desire to change the team in depth, also specifying that he wanted to limit the number of Muslim players as much as possible ”, reads the extract to which Le Parisien had access.
“I am deeply shocked by the claims attributed to me and that have been irresponsibly disclosed,” Galtier said at a press conference at the time.
Several of those affected are being questioned and in the coming days the decision of the French justice will be known and whether it may have an impact on the career of the coach who at the head of PSG only managed to win Ligue 1 last, despite having players like Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi or Neymar Jr.
The elimination in the round of 16 of the Champions League against Bayern Munich definitively sentenced the continuity of the French coach and now PSG is targeting the Spanish Luis Enrique.
