The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to immediately stop using Gorsetle infant loungers because they do not meet safety standards for infant products. sleep for babies
According to the report, the product does not have a support and that represents a risk of suffocation and a fall hazard for babies who use them.
In addition, it is indicated that the loungers do not meet the requirements of marking, labeling and instructional literature: “These failures create an unsafe sleeping environment for babies. The lounger and its packaging also lack a tracking label containing the required information, including the date of manufacture,” the CPSC says.
It is also emphasized that Gorsetle US, the seller, is not cooperating with the CPSC in the recall of this product and is not offering a remedy to consumers.
This merchandise was advertised as Gorsetle Baby Loungers, Portable Infant Floor Seat, Ultra Soft Breathable Lounger for Newborns, Baby Registry Essential Gift, Great for Travel and Tummy Sleepers.
The loungers were sold online at amazon.com for around $60 and come with no labeling. They include a head pillow and fold into a carry-on bag with a handle. The product was offered in three different patterned fabrics, including Crown, Jungle Animal, and Little Elephant.
The CPSC urges consumers to stop using the loungers immediately, and to immediately cut the fabric and pillow so that no one else can use it, because of the danger they pose.
“Although the infant sleep product rule specifically applies to products manufactured after June 23, 2022, these loungers do not have a required manufacturing date labeled on the product or packaging and therefore CPSC urges all companies, to stop the sale of non-compliant infant sleep products, regardless of date of manufacture,” the report says.
CPSC reminds consumers that:
· Babies should always sleep on their backs. Babies who fall asleep in a prone or upright position should be moved to a safe sleeping environment.
· The best place for a baby to sleep is on a firm, flat surface in a crib, bassinet, or play yard.
· Use only a fitted sheet and never add blankets, pillows, padded crib bumpers or other items to a baby’s sleeping environment.
