indisputable-vs.-indisputable:-canelo-alvarez-and-jermell-charlo-will-face-each-other-in-las-vegas

This Friday the boxer Canelo Álvarez officially announced his next fight, which will take place in the city of Las Vegas against Jermell Charlo on September 30. This fight was originally scheduled for the 16th of the same month and it was speculated that the rival was not Jermell, but his twin brother Jermall.

The fight between the Mexican boxer and the American will dispute Canelo’s 4 world titles in the super middleweight category; so Charlo, who is the undisputed super welterweight champion, will have to move up two categories, from 154 pounds to 168 pounds to face Álvarez.

This duel was announced as “Indisputable vs. Undisputed”, since both boxers are undisputed champions in their respective divisions having obtained the four world titles endorsed by the WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF.

Charlo comes from beating the Argentine Brian Castaño in California by technical knockout in 10 rounds to leave his mark in 35 victories (19 of them by knockout), one draw and one loss.

While the Mexican defeated Jhon Ryder in his last appearance in the ring, which also meant the boxer’s return to a fight in Mexico. Canelo’s record is 59 wins (39 of them by knockout), 2 draws and only 2 losses.

He was left wanting revenge

Canelo Álvarez only had one thing in mind and that was to get a rematch against Dmitry Bivol, with whom he lost in May 2022. However, the Russian flatly refused to give the Mexican boxer a second fight, at least not in the same one. category, so Canelo would be left wanting a rematch against Bivol for now.

Other names that sounded strong to fight against Canelo on this date in September were Edgar Berlanga, Badou Jack and David Benavidez. The latter was very close to materializing, however an agreement was not reached between both parties.
