The National Football League (NFL) announced Thursday the suspension of four league players for violating betting policies. As reported by the NFL in a statement, Isaiah Rodgers and Rashod Berry, of the Indianapolis Colts; Nicholas Petit-Frere of the Tennessee Titans; and free agent Demetrius Taylor were suspended indefinitely.

In this way, the Colts players were fired and will not be able to play any game of the season that will start next September for betting on NFL games during the 2022 campaign. However, the two Colts players may request their reinstatement to end of the year.

For his part, Nicholas Petit-Frere was penalized for the first six games of the 2023 season for betting on non-NFL sports within the Titans facilities. The suspension will not prevent Petit-Frere from participating in all offseason and preseason activities for his team, including preseason games.

Sources at the sportsbook used by Rodgers told ESPN’s David Purdum that more than 100 bets were placed, including one bet on a game involving the Colts. On the other hand, the Titans reported in a statement that the NFL informed them “of the suspension of Nicholas. We believe in him and know that he has a deep respect for the integrity of the game and our organization. We will continue to emphasize to our players the importance of understanding and adhering to the league’s rules and policies.”

The NFL’s gambling policy prohibits anyone associated with the American football league from engaging in any type of wagering at any facility or office on any team in the league.

Detroit Lions receivers Jameson Williams, Quintez Cephus, Stanley Berryhill and CJ Moore, as well as Washington Commanders defensive end Shaka Toney, were suspended last year for also being related to gambling.
