NEW YORK – No one so far has been able to explain the presence of “green” insect clouds in the skies over Brooklyn and Manhattan over the past few days.
The apparitions have been reported at least since Wednesday.
Users have taken to social media to share videos of insects that resemble mosquitoes or flies.
According to accounts from netizens who have stumbled upon the unexpected visitors, the insects are usually seen shortly before dusk. Some perceive a white color on their wings instead of green.
In what the spectators agree is that it is not easy to deal with them, since they even get in through the nose and mouth in any carelessness.
“WHAT ARE THESE TINY FLIES THAT FLY ALL OVER BROOKLYN? Not the best video- they’re much more obvious in person. I literally can’t open my mouth while walking. I’m not ‘nature-inclined’ ‘lol’ so forgive me if I should know what they are. Someone tell me more,” a user, identified as Kai, said on Twitter.
The publication includes the hashtags #NYC, #BK and #bugs, and the video taken from a car moving on a street in that county.
Other videos shared on the aforementioned network show the insects in a Subway station, where they have also slipped.
The arrival of the little animals has coincided with the new sequel of toxic smoke in cities like the Big Apple due to the forest fires in Canada.
It is not clear if the insects have anything to do with the poor air quality in recent days.
