The world of European football received unfortunate news this weekend after the iconic Spanish footballer, Cesc Fàbregas, announced his retirement as a professional player after 15 years of sporting history in which he managed to win a large number of titles in some of the major leagues in Europe.

The information was released by the player himself through his social networks, where he thanked all the teams he was a part of for all those years within their ranks and stressed that he will now begin a new stage as coach of Como 1907, team which belongs to the second division of Italy and of which it also serves as one of its shareholders.

“After 21 seasons playing as a professional, the time has come to hang up my boots… I will never forget my first days at Arenys, Mataró, Barça, Arsenal, the return to Barça, Chelsea, Monaco and Como I have lifted the World Cup, two European Championships, won everything in England and Spain and almost all the European trophies. It has been a trip impossible to forget. All of you who have helped me, my teammates, coaches, directors, presidents, owners, fans and my agent, a heartfelt thank you. To the opponents, thank you for making me stronger. And to all my family, from my parents and my sister to my wife and children, thank you for your advice, help and guidance on this long and incredible journey”, he expressed.

“I’ve had experiences that I never thought in a million years I’d come close to. I have learned 3 languages ​​and I can say that it has made me more compassionate and wise. It has been so worth it for all the great memories and friends I have made along the way,” he added.

He also stressed that he is focused on achieving the best possible performance on the bench of omo 1907 and thus be able to qualify for Serie A in Italy to demonstrate all the knowledge he achieved within the Spanish FC Barcelona and Chelsea in the Premier League.

“But it’s not all sadness, now a new challenge is also beginning, I’m happy to announce that I’m going to cross the white line and start training Team B and Primavera del Como 1907, a club and a project that excites me a lot. This wonderful club has won my heart from the first minute and it came to me at the perfect moment in my career, I will give everything in my power. Fàbregas played more than 350 games in the Premier League, almost 100 in the Spanish League and 104 games in the Champions League; he was also crowned champion of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and winner of two European Championships with Spain.
