After being arrested this Friday along with his son in Nice, the still technical director of Paris Saint-Germain Christophe Galtier will face a trial on December 15 on charges of discrimination and moral harassment for racism when he trained at OGC Nice.
As announced this Friday by the Nice prosecutor, Xavier Bonhomme, in a statement collected by EFE, Galtier must appear before the Correctional Court of Nice after being arrested on June 30 along with his son, John Valovic-Galtier, who was released,
The investigation, reports Le Parisien, began on April 13 after filtering a series of emails from Julien Fournier, the team’s former sports director, addressed to the OGC Nice leadership, where the former sports director would have exposed what Galtier told him about the equipment.
“Then he replied that I had to take into account the reality of the city and that, in fact, we could not have so many blacks and Muslims in the team (…) He told me about his desire to change the team in depth, also specifying that he wanted limit the number of Muslim players as much as possible ”, reads the extract of the email to which Le Parisien had access.
“I am deeply shocked by the claims attributed to me and that have been irresponsibly disclosed,” Galtier said at a press conference at the time.
This trial could have a great impact on the career of the coach who at the head of PSG only managed to win Ligue 1 last, despite having players like Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi or Neymar Jr.
The elimination in the round of 16 of the Champions League against Bayern Munich definitively sentenced the continuity of the French coach and now PSG is targeting the Spanish Luis Enrique.
