city-sanitation-employees-caught-ignoring-trash-on-brooklyn-sidewalks

City Sanitation workers were caught in Brooklyn on New York Post cameras leaving trash lying on the sidewalk on Parkside Avenue between St. Paul’s and Ocean Avenue in Flattbush around 6:45 a.m. Saturday.

In the 63-second video, employees can be seen picking up much of the trash, but leaving plastic bags on the sides, milk containers, cardboard boxes, and other debris.

“It was recycling day. There was a big huge pile. I think they picked up the bags and threw them in the truck and dropped things and didn’t pick them up,” said a neighborhood resident.

The citizen added the following: “There was a press conference by the mayor [esta semana] about trash and rats and all that… and now this is what the guys are doing.”

As of last Wednesday, 911 complaints about rats were down 26% compared to last year, due to rules that prohibit businesses and homeowners from taking out trash before 8:00 a.m., the mayor explained. Eric Adams with Department of Sanitation Commissioner Jessica Tisch.

“It appears that the material was not bagged when our teams arrived,” a Sanitation Department spokesman said.

“When this happens, collection teams are instructed to report the matter to their supervisor for follow-up. We are looking into this and will also follow up with residents if necessary.”
