Billionaire businessman Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, extended the limit on daily tweet reads just hours after the controversial announcement of limitations, while wryly claiming that his ad was the most read post to date.
On Saturday, the tycoon announced that to avoid extreme levels of data extraction and manipulation of the system, verified accounts could read a maximum of 6,000 tweets a day, unverified accounts 600 and new unverified accounts 300, causing a reaction from of the users who kept it at the top of the trends.
However, hours later, Musk specified that there would be an increase in the limit that would be up to 10,000 tweets for verified accounts, 1,000 for unverified accounts and 500 for new unverified accounts.
In the midst of all the commotion that this decision generated among Internet users, many users reported problems accessing Twitter content, and the first message accumulated more than 455 million readings until Sunday morning.
“In another exercise of irony, this publication has achieved a record number of visits!” exclaimed the businessman, who sarcastically commented on another message about how users were reaching reading limits “by reading over the limits”, and at the same time complain about the measure.
The Downdetector monitoring page specified that the problems to access Twitter peaked after the official announcement, with some 7,000 reports, but they normalized throughout the day, and this Sunday it did not exceed 1,000, the EFE agency reported.
Similarly, Musk retweeted a message from an account that parodied him, giving a possible show of approval, which said that the reason for imposing the limits on Twitter is that “we are all addicted to Twitter and need to get outdoors.”
During the tycoon’s interaction, he made a comment that was related to the aforementioned idea, assuring: “you wake up from a deep trance, you walk away from the phone to see your friends and family.”
