The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) has issued an eviction order for an electric bike shop located in Brooklyn.
According to authorities, an excessive amount of lithium-ion batteries were found to be in the 5th Avenue store in Sunset Park.
They also announced that some illegal modifications were found on the site.
Detectives also found dozens of electric mobility devices, along with gasoline-powered mopeds with fuel inside.
This order comes as New York City has cracked down on the unsafe storage of lithium-ion batteries.
In June, a bicycle shop on the Lower East Side caught fire, killing four people.
Additionally, lithium-ion batteries have sparked 113 fires so far in 2023, killing more than 13 New Yorkers and injuring 71 people.
There have been more than a dozen fatalities linked to lithium-ion battery explosions this year alone.
