The Mexican Raúl Jiménez reported this Sunday with the Wolverhampton Wanderers and thus ended months of speculation about his future, derived from his very few appearances in the highest category of English football. In an interview with TUDN, Jiménez recalled that “those rumors always come up and more at this time of year, when there are signings, many things come out from different teams.”
“In my head right now is to continue in England, to continue at the highest level and I know that I can continue doing it, I know that I have the skills to do it and I hope that now with this operation that I had I can continue to improve,” said the Mexican about his future and about the surgical intervention he had to undergo to treat the pubalgia (groin pain) that has afflicted him for a long time.
Through their Twitter account, Wolverhampton reported that the 32-year-old striker reported to pre-season training: “Raúl is back. We must welcome the Mexican Wolf!” The team wrote, accompanied by three photos of the Mexican arriving at the training ground for the Mid West England team.
Even so, the future of Jiménez is far from being clear, since on May 20 he said goodbye to the fans at the Molineux stadium after the end of the match between Wolves and Everton. At that time, he toured the field with his wife and could not hold back his tears when he was cheered by the fans. It should be noted that the Mexican still has one year left on his contract.
“Recovering from the operation, something simple, I have four to six weeks to play again. And well, wait. I have a one-year contract with Wolves, if I have to fulfill it I will fulfill it because I am very happy with all the people, the fans and the team have always treated me in an incredible way”, pointed out the Mexican who added 842 last season minutes in 15 games in the English league and three in the League Cup, a competition in which he scored three goals.
It is seen in America and in the 2026 World Cup
In the same interview with TUDN, Raúl Jiménez did not rule out his return to Liga MX at the hands of the club that formed him: “Maybe in the future, I see myself returning to America because it is something I would like and I know it would be something very good to finish my career”.
Likewise, the forward said he felt willing and with the necessary level to be able to play the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, to be held in 2026.
“I will continue working for that. I am going to continue fighting, first with my team, wherever I am and then when the selection calls are there. If I continue to be called up, I will always give my best effort for that. I would arrive at 35 years of age and well, I think it is still an age at which it is possible,” Jiménez stated.
