The United States team confirmed this Sunday its direct ticket to the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup by crushing Trinidad and Tobago 6-0 with another magnificent individual performance by Hispanic striker Jesús Ferreira.
The attacker Ferreira collaborated with half of his team’s goals, this being his second consecutive performance in which he scored three goals just four days after the hat-trick against Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Ferreira signed all three goals before the break and also became the first player in the history of the United States team to hit hat tricks in two consecutive games.
As if that were not enough, Ferreira also established himself alone in the list of top scorers in the Gold Cup, well above his teammate in the United States, Brandon Vásquez (2) and Jamaican winger Demarai Gray (2).
Vásquez himself was precisely one of the authors of the goals, in addition to Fereira himself, Gianluca Busio and Cade Cowell, the latter in the second half.
The Stars and Stripes team, with 7 points and a positive balance of 12 goals, took the lead in Group A ahead of Jamaica, which beat Saint Kitts and Nevis 5-0 this Sunday and was second also with 7 points but with 8 difference.
The United States will meet the second in group D in the quarterfinals next Sunday, very even for now with Guadeloupe as the surprising leader with 4 points followed by Guatemala (4) and Canada (2), seeking to revalidate the title they won in 2021.
