Football often gives curious images but what happened at the 2023 U-17 Asian Cup held in Thailand exceeded the common limits when a couple of players left a postcard that they will remember for a long time.

It happened during the match between Japan and Iran when the island threatened a dangerous free kick during a game play.

Despite the fact that Japan was already leading 2-0, they expected to increase the advantage to seal the win, but the third and final goal came thanks to the decision of Ryunosuke Sato and Gaku Nawata to play rock, paper, scissors to define the kicker of the stopped ball .

After the game the winner was Sato and contrary to what everyone might think, the shot not only ended up inside the net but also surprised his rivals by slipping the ball under the wall.

After the goal, all the players ran to congratulate Sato on his wit and later celebrated the victory in the semifinals with all their might, which gave them a pass to the final of the tournament where they also beat South Korea 3-0 to win the title.

Although the move is new, it is not the first time that a similar action has been seen. Years ago, when Toni Kroos and Frank Ribery played for Bayern Munich in Germany on several occasions to agree and take a free kick before they played rock, paper, scissors.
