missing-minnesota-woman-found-dismembered;-her-boyfriend-is-accused-of-murder

The remains of a missing Minnesota woman, Manijeh “Mani” Starren, were discovered in a storage unit, leading to the arrest of her boyfriend, Joseph Steven Jorgenson.

Mani Starren, a 34-year-old St. Paul resident, was reported missing by her family in June after they lost contact with her since April 21, reports Pionner Press.

Disturbing security footage captured her running from her apartment as Jorgenson chases after her, forcibly pushing her inside, St. Paul police said at a news conference.

Jorgenson’s actions after the incident raised “red flags” for investigators. Surveillance footage showed him going in and out of Starren’s apartment several times over the next week, carrying duffel bags and a suitcase, which he loaded into a van.

Disturbingly, he used Starren’s bank card to buy cleaning supplies and was found to have conducted online searches related to “deleting phone cookies” and information on lime for the floor, which could indicate an attempt to hide evidence of decomposition.

Jorgenson’s arrest and Starren’s remains

When police attempted to execute search warrants at Jorgenson’s apartment, he barricaded himself, started a fire, and threatened the officers.

He also tried to disarm an officer, but eventually, the SWAT team apprehended Jorgenson, leading to charges of second-degree murder, arson and attempted to disarm a law enforcement officer, People reports.

Investigators later obtained a search warrant for a rental storage unit in the name of Jorgenson’s roommate.

Inside, they found two coolers and a duffel bag, all containing human remains, which have now been confirmed to be Starren’s. This heartbreaking discovery further solidified the case against Jorgenson.

The heinous murder and dismemberment of Manijeh Starren shocked the Minnesota community and left his family devastated.

While the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to bring justice to the victim and her loved ones.
