president-joe-biden-confused-ukraine-with-iraq-when-answering-a-reporter's-question-at-the-white-house

The last week of June 2023 ended with an awkward moment between the President of the United States, Joe Biden, and a journalist at a press conference held at the White House.

During a press conference, a journalist asked President Biden to what extent the aborted rebellion in Russia, carried out, in principle, by the Wagner Group, had weakened the president of that country, Vladimir Putin.

When asked, Biden responded, although not precisely about Ukraine, but about the US-led invasion of Iraq, according to The Hill news portal.

“Hard to say, but he is clearly losing the war in Iraq, he is losing the war at home, and he is becoming a pariah around the world,” Biden responded.

And he also added: “It’s not just NATO (acronym for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization), it’s not just the European Union, it’s Japan.”

Regarding this little gazapo, the White House has not commented.

According to The Hill, Biden had the same confusion during a campaign event in Maryland.

“If someone told you (and my staff wasn’t so sure) that we could unite all of Europe on the conflict in Iraq and make NATO fully united, I think they would have told you that’s not possible. Putin was only counting on being able to divide NATO,” Biden said during the campaign event.

According to a May poll conducted by NPR, PBS News Hour and Marist, at least 7 in 10 independent voters are “worried about the mental fitness” of President Joe Biden, who announced earlier this year that he would enter the presidential race for the 2024 elections.

Many politicians, in fact, have argued that Biden’s advanced age could pose a problem for the Democrat to be re-elected as national president.

The former Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, admitted that Biden’s age represents a concern for voters when it comes to measuring themselves in the 2024 elections.

On the other hand, the Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley proposed that an “aptitude test” be carried out for politicians older than 75 years of age, such as Joe Biden, who is now 80 years of age.

President Biden assured that he “seriously evaluated” his own age when thinking about his run for re-election, according to information from CNN en Español.
