suspected-gunmen-identified-after-seriously-shooting-a-5-year-old-girl-in-the-bronx

The alleged perpetrators of the shooting of a 5-year-old girl in the Bronx last week have been identified and are being sought by police, authorities said Monday.

According to NYPD, the subjects identified as Austin Morrishow, 25, and Curtis White, 26, were the two people who allegedly opened fire at a vehicle Friday on an East 214th Street, according to the department’s deputy chief, Joe Kenny, in a press conference at One Police Plaza.

Both Morrishow and White were part of a group that gathered around 7 p.m. after 26-year-old Justin Rodriguez was shot a block away Thursday morning.

During the events, people began to panic, believing that a loud bang was related to the shooting.

The two men then ran into the streets and began shooting, shooting the 5-year-old girl in the back as she was riding in a family vehicle, Kenny said.

White had just been convicted of attempted assault in 2015, serving two years on his four-year term before being released on probation, jail records showed. He was also arrested for possession of fire in Georgia, Kenny said.

For his part, Morrishow, who is a member of the Mac Baller gang and wanted for a pattern of robbery in Brooklyn, is on probation for one arrest for possession of firearms until 2025, said Kenny, who said he was arrested in 2017.

After the shots, the girl was seriously injured, so she is expected to survive. NYPD released the photos of the suspects this afternoon.

“I visited that girl yesterday and to see what she and her family were going through is not only heartbreaking, but infuriating,” Acting Police Commissioner Edward Caban said at a news conference. “So, at her bedside, I made a promise to her and to her family: We promised that I would never rest until her shooter was found and held accountable.”
