A white powder that caused intense police and emergency services mobilization at the White House turned out to be cocaine, according to reports from the Washington, DC Fire Department
“We have a yellow bar that says cocaine hydrochloride,” a DC firefighter said in a radio broadcast Sunday.
The order was to secure it and remove it from the library area of the official residence.
The Secret Service first declined to discuss the investigation, after The Washington Post confirmed the finding of “white powder” at the White House.
As part of the investigative protocol, authorities evacuated the residence and a Hazmat team from Washington, DC, Fire and Emergency (EMS) implemented an operation.
President Joe Biden was at Camp David at the time of the incident, but this Tuesday morning the president headed back to DC
The investigations now seek to find out who and how the cocaine got to the White House. The substance was found by a Secret Service element during a routine search of the property.
The Biden Administration has not given an official position on the facts.
