Israeli authorities fired tear gas inside a hospital in the West Bank city of Jenin, wounding 125 people as the city is under a raid that is in its second day, Doctors Without Borders said.

The gas was fired inside the emergency room, rendering it “unusable”, while the rest of the hospital was left “completely filled with smoke” after the attack, the medical organization added.

In the two-day raid on the West Bank, 11 Palestinians were killed, including three children, and at least 120 were injured, including 20 in critical condition, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported, making it the largest raid ever. in the West Bank since 2002.

In the city of Jennin, 3,000 refugees have been evacuated since the Israeli forces’ operation that began at 1:00 am local time, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent, an organization that works in the West Bank, whose population is 18,000.

“Military bulldozers have destroyed the road leading to the refugee camp, preventing ambulances from reaching the patients,” the organization said on Monday. “All roads leading to the camp are blocked, even for ambulances.”

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited an outpost near the Jenin camp on Tuesday after a vehicle crashed into a Tel Aviv bus stop in protest of the raid.

“Anyone who thinks that such an attack will deter us from continuing our fight against terrorism is wrong,” Netanyahu said. “We will continue as long as necessary to eradicate terrorism.”

Most of the Jenin camp does not have access to drinking water due to the damage caused after the raid. Initial estimates showed that most of the camp has no electricity, according to United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs spokeswoman Vanessa Huguenin.

Health facilities have been damaged by the raid, and they are reviewing a list of urgently needed supplies, Huguenin added.

“We continue to monitor the situation on the ground and we, along with our humanitarian partners, are mobilizing to help. We are asking for access to the injured and affected people inside the Jenin refugee camp,” the spokeswoman said, adding that the UN OCHA is alarmed by the scale of air and ground operations in the city.
