The Mexican driver, Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez finished the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix in third position, after climbing six places from the start.

The man from Guadalajara crossed the finish line of the Hungaroring circuit, on the outskirts of Budapest, behind his team Max Verstappen, who won the race, and the McLaren driver, Lando Norris.

This is the fifth podium that ‘Checo’ Pérez has achieved this season in the top motorsport competition, and the 32nd in F1.

On the other hand, Verstappen signed the ninth victory of the campaign, and the forty-fourth in his Formula 1 career.

With this victory by Verstappen, the Red Bull team managed to surpass the historical record for consecutive wins in Formula One held by McLaren, which in 1988 won the first 11 races of that year.

In addition to having won the first 11 circuits of 2023, Red Bull also won the last race of last year.

Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton started from the top position, having won pole position at the weekend. However, he was unable to hold the position and ended up in fourth place.

The other Mercedes, that of Englishman George Russell, finished sixth at the Hungaroring, one place ahead of Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), who qualified ahead of his Spanish teammate and the Asturian double world champion.

Canadian Lance Stroll, Alonso’s teammate at Aston Martin, finished tenth and captured the last point at stake.

Verstappen, who is increasingly aiming for a third title in a row, now leads the World Cup with 281 points, 110 more than ‘Checo’ and with an advantage of 142 over Alonso, who is third; in a second youth, a few days after turning 42.

The next race, the Belgian Grand Prix, will be held next weekend at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
