The Department of Strategic Communications of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reiterated that kyiv will continue to supply grain to other countries despite the fact that Russia announced its withdrawal from the Black Sea Agreement, due to disagreements that would favor Ukraine. Moscow has warned that any ship passing through the Black Sea strait will be considered a warship.

This week Russia finally decided to suspend the Black Sea Agreement, which has maintained grain exports with Ukraine since the first months of Moscow’s invasion of kyiv. According to the Kremlin, the commitments with the Russian side were never fulfilled and the treaty only benefited the Ukrainians.

The United Nations Organization (UN) affirmed that it will continue its efforts so that Russia agrees to extend the Black Sea Agreement to export grain from Ukraine to international markets. The agency explained that there are problems to resolve in relation to the export of Russian food and fertilizers, one of the most persistent complaints since the creation of the agreement.

“The Ukrainian state has its own plan. After securing the political consent of partner countries, particularly Turkey, and the confidence of insurers, Ukraine is ready to pave its economic path. We will continue helping other countries around the world, because only with joint struggle and mutual support will we achieve victory,” the agency said in a statement.

Before the Russian invasion, Ukraine was the world’s fifth largest grain exporter before the Russian invasion caused a blockade of Ukrainian ports, causing world grain prices to rise. “According to the UN, grain shortages and rising food prices have put 50 million people at risk of starvation. The terrorist state of Russia threatens with its actions the survival of entire nations in Africa and the Middle East,” he underlines.

The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, affirmed this week that the grain agreement is suspended, and that as soon as the Russian part of the agreements is fulfilled, Russia will immediately re-implement this agreement that is mediated by the United Nations Organization (UN) and the Turkish government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“In practice, the Black Sea agreements expired today. Unfortunately, the part of the Black Sea agreement that refers to Russia has not been fulfilled. So it loses its vigor,” he explained.
