If you are a fan of playing the lottery, it has surely happened to you that for a draw, you have bought tickets at the last minute, just before the winner is announced or, before the supermarket or gas station closes.
That was what happened to a woman from Iowa, who managed to become a millionaire thanks to the fact that she acquired a lottery ticket shortly before the Powerball drawing took place last Monday.
Megan Balmer, a 36-year-old nurse, rushed to an establishment with her boyfriend to buy a ticket for this lottery game. Arriving home, since she had passed the draw, she checked what the result had been and incredibly, she matched the first 5 numbers, thus winning a prize of $2 million dollars.
“We couldn’t believe something like this happened to us. It is not something that happens to us, ever, to us. We never have luck like that,” Balmer said.
Balmer said they checked the Powerball page and the lottery app several times to verify that they had actually won. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” he said. They even called his stepmother and went to a gas station where they confirmed the result of the draw.
Regarding what she would do with her prize, the woman indicated that she wants to pay her mortgage, as well as pay off the student loans she acquired in nursing school, as well as a debt she has with a credit card.
In the same way, he pointed out that he will also take a little of his prize to save for his retirement and be able to pay for his children’s university.
