On another violent night in the central Mexican state of Morelos, two couples were enjoying food and drinks in a taco shop when they were fired upon.
Around 7:55 in the afternoon, residents of the Ahuatepec municipality reported the horrifying incident to the 911 emergency number, describing an armed attack on the establishment.
Disturbing images shared on social media showed the victims sitting at a plastic table outside the taco shop.
The State Public Safety Commission received the emergency call, informing that multiple shots had been fired inside the compound, resulting in several injuries, according to the Infobae media.
Authorities responding immediately, and an emergency team arrived at the scene to assess the situation.
Preliminary information revealed that the assailants arrived at the taco shop in a gray Honda-type vehicle, according to El Heraldo de México.
Two armed individuals got out of the car and, without saying a word, rained down bullets on the unsuspecting diners. Following the attack, the perpetrators fled the scene in their vehicle, leaving behind tragic aftermath.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered the lifeless bodies of three victims sitting on chairs, while another victim lay on the pavement. Among the victims were two men and two women, so the FGE’s femicide area was involved to ensure that the corresponding protocol was followed during the investigation.
Despite deploying a security operation in Ahuatepec to track down the culprits, the hitmen remain at large and their identities have yet to be discovered. The ongoing investigation will shed light on the possible motives behind this heinous armed attack.
The bodies of the victims were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for the necessary autopsy and identification by their grieving relatives.
Tragically, the incident on Sunday, July 23, contributed to Morelos witnessing seven homicide victims across the state, mirroring the same number reported in Guanajuato, according to data from the National Security Commission (CNS).
