The Argentine star, Lionel Messi, was proclaimed champion of the Leagues Cup with Inter Miami. He reached 43 titles in his professional career, after winning 34 with Barcelona, 5 with Argentina and three with Paris Saint Germain.
But in addition to the champion’s trophy, Messi reached another record because in the seven games he has played in the binational tournament with Inter Miami, he has been present on the scoreboard in all matches.
The first of all came against Cruz Azul, after coming on from the bench he scored a great goal from a free kick in the last minute of the game to seal the 2-1 victory at the DRV PNK Stadium.
Subsequently, Messi furthered the path of his team with three consecutive doubles against Atlanta United, Orlando City and Dallas, the latter undoubtedly the most difficult, drawing 4-4 and advancing on penalties.
In the following rounds of the Leagues Cup, Messi maintained his record with one goal per match, with goals in the wins against Charlotte, Philadelphia Union and in the Final against Nashville SC, putting his team ahead in the first half of the grand final.
In short, Messi scored 10 goals and provided an assist for Inter Miami in seven games played in the Leagues Cup, being part of the team with the best offense in the tournament.
Messi a born winner
Leo Messi played the final number 42 of his career, of which he has won 30 and has lost only 12. In addition, he has accumulated 37 goals in the 50 final matches in which he has participated.
With the Argentina team he has nine finals with a balance of five joys and 4 disappointments. After losing in the final of the 2007 Copa América with Brazil, against Germany in the 2014 World Cup and twice against Chile in the Copa América (2015-2016), Leo took off the huge backpack he carried on his back, achieving three titles in row: Copa América 2021, Finalissima and World Cup in Qatar 2022.
For his part, with Barcelona he won 23 of 31 finals between the Copa del Rey (7 of 10), the Spanish Super Cup (7 of 11), the European Super Cup (3 of 4), the Club World Cup (3 of 3 ) and Champions League (3 of 3).
And with PSG he was crowned in the Champions Trophy against Nantes.
