A woman decided to go to a Dollar General store to buy a bag of Takis. The girl entered the store, took the product, and then walked over to the register where she finally realized that the store had already closed: the customer had actually broken into Dollar General without knowing it.
In a clip shared on TikTok, user @Sandravasqz mentioned that she visited the store around 9:45 p.m. Although the store was dimly lit, she assumed it was because it closed at 10:00 p.m.
It wasn’t until he tried to pay for Takis’s bag that it became clear something was wrong. “Once I got to the register and put my stuff down is when the alarm started going off,” the woman said in the video.
The woman said she called 911 and waited for the police to arrive. The video on TikTok shows police officers entering and searching the Dollar General store.
“I just broke into the Dollar General,” the woman said jokingly.
It should be noted that the chain has racked up millions of dollars in fines from the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration for issues ranging from non-functioning bathrooms to blocked fire exits.
According to the Insider portal, employees have previously commented that Dollar General stores are often understaffed, in part because the salaries they offer are not competitive.
Employees say it’s common for only one worker to be on duty in retailer stores and for customers not to interact with an employee until they need to pay.
