The controversy of the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales continues after kissing the soccer player Jenni Hermosa on the mouth after Spain won the 2023 Women’s World Cup final against England by the slightest difference.
Now reports emerged that Rubiales would have begged Hermoso to appear in the apology video that the RFEF shared with the media, but the player would have refused and Rubiales finally appeared only in an apology that did not convince public opinion at all Spanish.
As revealed by the journalist Natalia Torrente on the Antena 3 program Espejo Público, Luis Rubiales would have told Hermoso that his “position is at stake” because of the kiss and that he appear in the video “even if it is for my daughters. I need you to go out with me.”
All this would have happened on the return flight from the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand: “Rubiales, on the flight to Madrid, realized the media repercussion that what had happened was having (…) Then he approached the player with the discretion as possible to ask him to please help him in this,” said the communicator
“He told her that her position was at stake and that if she spoke out she would diminish the importance that was being given to this. She asked the environment not to enter. She considers that she does not have to give explanations, ”added Torrente about the case.
After the failure of this request, the aforementioned journalist indicated that coach Jorge Vilda had to intercede and allegedly spoke with Hermoso’s relatives so that they could try to convince her to appear in the video with Rubiales, which was also unsuccessful.
