Formula is back this weekend with the Grand Prix of the Netherlands and the Mexican driver of the Red Bull team, Sergio Checo Pérez, assured that he was focused on having a great second part of the season.

Checo Pérez confessed: “I have had a great summer vacation, between being back in Mexico with my family and training hard. I feel completely fresh and ready to go.”

“I was at the factory with my engineers this week, it’s always good to catch up after the break and we’ve done a very good preparation for the weekend and we’re fully prepared for it,” said Checo Pérez, who has adapted better to the RB19 updates.

“I want to pick up where I left off at Spa and be consistently on the podium and be challenging for the rest of the season,” said Checo Pérez, who has seven podium finishes so far this season.

And about this weekend’s circuit, he revealed: “Zandvoort will be a difficult race, the qualifier is getting tighter, but we keep pushing and pushing as a team and we will try to do our best and get a good result no matter how much time it takes. do in Zandvoort”.

Checo Pérez is second (189 points) in the drivers’ world championship behind his teammate, Max Verstappen (314), favorite to win this weekend in front of his fans and to revalidate the drivers’ championship. Fernando Alonso is third with 149 units.

Expect the support of the fans in the Netherlands

During this weekend Checo Pérez will compete as a “visitor” given the obvious support that his teammate, Max Verstappen, will receive from the thousands of attendees.

“Yes, I definitely think they will support me since it is difficult for them to recognize which Red Bull belongs to which,” said the man from Guadalajara with a laugh. “I hope they cheer me up. The Orange Army have always shown me their support and also stand in solidarity with me,” he added in a more serious tone.

On his goals for the rest of 2023 he mentioned: “I am really concentrating on myself, there are still ten races to go and I want to get at least a few more wins and get consistent results. We have to maintain the form we’ve had in the last two races and finish the season strong with a view to starting the next one well too, that’s my goal.”

And he concluded: “I don’t follow social networks, first of all; and then, over the summer, I’ve been really busy having a good time and I don’t listen to all that, I just focus on what I have to do.
