The UANL Tigers are immersed in a serious problem for this season after confirming this Wednesday that the lawyers of the former striker of the cats, the Frenchman Florian Thauvin, filed a lawsuit before the TAS (Tribunal de Arbitraje Deportivo for its acronym in French) for the alleged unilateral termination of his contract for the current Apertura 2023 tournament of Liga MX.
According to the information compiled by the TUDN journalist, Vladimir García, the French striker’s lawyers are demanding the payment of 30 months of salary (an agreement that both parties maintained until 2026) which corresponds to a total of $13 million dollars.
Given this fact, García explained that the legal department of the UANL Tigers will present the documents signed by the player himself in which he agrees with the termination of his contract and the settlement of the agreement that united them for all those years; It is expected that with these documents the TAS can issue a decision in this regard in the coming months.
Let’s remember that the French gunner joined the ranks of the university team for the Apertura 2021 tournament and remained active until Apertura 2022; in that period he played a total of 38 games between the regular round of Liga MX and the Liguilla. Thauvin scored a total of eight goals while wearing the Tigers jersey and was an invaluable figure in striker André-Pierre Gignac’s scheme.
Florian Thauvin is also the 2018 World Cup champion in Russia with the French national team and at the beginning of this year he signed a contract with Udinese of Italy; With the Serie A team, he has already accumulated a total of 17 goals in which he has not managed to score a single goal. However, he managed to score a goal in the Italian Cup on August 11 against Catanzaro.
So far it is unknown what the decision that the TAS can take regarding the complaint filed by the player’s lawyers is unknown. However, if they certainly had the documents signed by Thauvin, they would have great support to get out without having to pay a single dollar.
