Two of the most important political events of the year occurred last night: the first Republican Debate in which 8 presidential candidates discussed their proposals, and the broadcast of the pre-recorded interview between Tucker Carlson, host of Fox News, and Donald Trump, former president. from the USA who decided not to participate in the debate due to his wide advantage in the polls over the rest of his opponents.

During the interview, Carlson asked Trump if he was worried that they wanted to assassinate or kill him, according to The Hill news portal. Carlson asked Trump, who remains under Secret Service protection and is the leading candidate for the Republican Party’s nomination for president, if he is concerned about his safety.

“It started with protests against you and then it went to two impeachments and now criminal charges,” Carlson told Trump.

He added: “Are you worried that they will try to kill you? Why wouldn’t they try to kill you? Oh really”.

When asked, former President Trump replied that: “They are wild animals; They are sick people.”

The interview between Carlson and Trump was published through the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, and was broadcast at the same time that the Fox News network broadcast the first Republican debate this Wednesday in Milwuakee.

Trump has cited his wide lead in most Republican primary polls and a “hostile” relationship with Fox as reasons for not attending the event.

Trump has been indicted four times this year in connection with his personal business dealings, handling of classified documents and his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election. He has argued that the charges against him are political in nature and aimed at preventing him from winning a second tenure in the White House.

Tucker Carlson, on the other hand, was fired from the Fox network in April and has since launched a version of his popular primetime show on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
