OAXACA, Mexico – The family of Mexican Carlos Tomás Aranda Bugoin, who has disappeared since July 7 in the province of British Columbia, described the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) as “irresponsible”, after they This Thursday he confirmed that the body found in Lake Osoyoos two days ago corresponds to his relative.

In addition, it condemned the “bad faith and lack of professionalism” on the part of that security force, since, in a clear violation of human rights, “it made an assertion regarding the identity of a body found in a lake in the region “without having a minimum scientific support”, because the necropsy protocol of law has not been practiced.

The RPMC confirmed yesterday that the remains found last Tuesday in the waters of Lake Osoyoos correspond to the body of the Mexican Carlos Tomás. However, the family of the 30-year-old stated in a statement that “an expert scientific process has not yet been carried out to determine the identity of the remains found.”

They also pointed out that the DNA sample is the “only way”, the police themselves assured the family, “that would make it possible to accurately determine if it could be Carlos Tomás, given the state of decomposition in which he was found.”

In the report sent by the brother of Carlos Tomás, Josué Aranda Bugoin, it is also made clear “that no DNA samples have been taken from the father of the disappeared young man even though the date for the procedure had been set for August 25.”

And they accused that the opinion of recognition of the human remains was issued through “an expert in forensic photographs lacking ethics and going over the rights of Carlos and his family.”

Aranda Burgoin, of Oaxacan origin, lived in the city of Oaxaca, capital of the state of the same name in southern Mexico, and had traveled to Canada to learn about sustainable tourism projects to enrich his studies and apply them in Oaxaca, his brother told EFE Josué Aranda Burgoin, before finding out that the body had been located.

To pay for his trip, Carlos Tomás Aranda Burgoin saved for a year, explained Josué Aranda, “he wanted to travel to get to know, he got his passport and tourist visa and sold some goods such as a motorcycle to be able to pay for the trip and the flight,” he said. In view of the disappearance of his son, since the end of July, the father of Carlos Tomás requested an emergency passport from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE, Chancellery) of Mexico to travel to Canada where he began a search on behalf of he.

For this, family and friends organized raffles and collections to collect financial resources so that her father could travel.

After hearing the news, the union of waiters and tourist service providers in Oaxaca wrote a message of condolence on social networks for the relatives of Aranda Burgoin.

On Wednesday, the Mexican Foreign Ministry reported that the RCMP had located the alleged body of Mexican Carlos Tomás, who was last seen on July 7.

In addition, he said that the forensic doctor would carry out the corresponding tests based on DNA samples “to corroborate if it is indeed Carlos Tomás.

In the statement, the Government of Mexico, through the Foreign Ministry, indicated that it would “accompany the Aranda Burgoin family to provide them with all the consular assistance that is required, as well as accompaniment before Canadian authorities.”
