This Saturday the Venezuelan team debuted in what is its fifth FIBA Basketball World Cup that is played in the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan and although it fell to NBA star Luka Doncic’s Slovenia, the spotlight was taken by the Caribbean Jhornan Zamora.
And all thanks to a shot by Zamora that stood out above any action in the match, not only for achieving a basket over the buzzer but also for the difficulty of scoring points.
During the final seconds of the second quarter, Doncic himself scored a score that left Venezuela with a possession of just 2.2 seconds and without time to call a timeout for the strategist Fernando Duró.
However, Zamora decided to take the ball and take the risk of taking the shot from far behind the midfield and contrary to what everyone might think, he managed to slip the ball into the ring.
As if that were not enough, the almost impossible triple also meant for Venezuela to get closer on the scoreboard, although they later ended up falling in the first game of the tournament.
Despite the fact that the public present in Japan was mostly supporting Slovenia because of the fanaticism towards Doncic, star of the Dallas Mavericks, everyone applauded and celebrated Zamora’s shot.
