New York Mets Starling Marte could be very close to seeing the 2023 season come to an end after his right groin injury that he has suffered for two weeks did not progress as expected.

While it initially looked as though Marte might be back for at least the Mets’ final 15 or 20 games in September, the outfielder has now lost much of his optimism about moving forward through the injury.

After he was consulted by journalists this Friday before the Mets’ 3-1 defeat against the Angels, the truth is that he did not seem very convinced to return this same season.

“We do not know yet. Maybe yes or maybe not… it’s too soon to know, “Marte said about it.

The long-standing Mars problem, even before the season started. During Spring Training, the Dominican had surgery on both sides of his groin to correct an ailment, but now the right side persists.

The Mets medical team recently prescribed injections in the affected area and two weeks before the first one, but they did not manage to reduce the pain.

“It’s complicated. That will be a conversation with the physical trainers. I’m sure they’re talking about it. They are meeting to talk about it. They probably know more than me, ”Marte said of his return.

Marte will remain on the 30-day disabled list and if he is not reactivated by the Metros, he will have to wait until 2024 to return to the playing fields.
