Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, like businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, had a huge surge in fundraising after the first Republican debate.
The Floridian’s campaign raised more than $1 million in the 24 hours after the Milwaukee race.
“Ron DeSantis demonstrated Wednesday night that he is a proven leader who will get results as president, and we are delighted with the outpouring of support we have received since his debate victory,” said DeSantis campaign manager James Uthmeier, to Fox News Digital.
“We look forward to building on this momentum in the weeks and months ahead as the Governor continues to out-work this race while laying out his vision to reverse our nation’s decline and revive the American Dream.”
For his part, political newcomer Ramaswamy also saw campaign growth, raising $460,000 on debate night and $600,000 on Thursday bringing his total to $1 million in new funding in 24 hours, according to New York. Post.
The large amount of money for Ramaswamy was much needed, as his campaign reported raising $19 million in the first half of the year. The applicant, however, had lent his committee more than $15 million.
The fundraising numbers match how the public saw the debate unfold.
Republican voters felt DeSantis had a narrow victory over Ramaswamy, according to a poll conducted by The Washington Post along with FiveThirtyEight and Ipsos.
The poll found that 29% of those polled thought the Florida governor won the debate, while 26% said Ramaswamy was the clear winner.
