The Lithuanian national team defeated their similar Mexico this Sunday with a score of 96-66, which left the Mexicans out of the race for the title of the Basketball World Cup in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia 2023.
In a match played in Manila, Philippines, Lithuanian Jonas Valanciunas led the offense with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds. For his part, Gabriel Girón was the best for the Mexicans with 13 units.
In this way, Lithuania secured their place in the second round of the group stage thanks to two victories in group D, where Montenegro also qualified.
Mexico will now have to play the qualifying phase to define places from 17 to 32, but will close their participation in the first round when they face off against Egypt this Tuesday, a team they must beat to avoid being in last place in the sector.
On the other hand, Montenegro and Lithuania will play the same Tuesday for the first place in group D.
