A pair of home runs by New York Yankees stars Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres were enough for the Yankees to put their slump aside and beat the Detroit Tigers 4-1 on the road at Comerica Park on Monday.
Judge and Torres made the popular back-to-back early in the 7th inning, both against Tigers reliever Beau Brieske, to increase the Yankees’ 1-0 lead by then.
Both the American and the Venezuelan had already been protagonists in the fifth episode when a double by Torres with the match tied without runs propelled Judge to achieve the first stripe of the match.
Nearing the end of the 8th inning, an RBI single by Oswaldo Cabrera drove in the last run for the Yankees, who saw their zero broken with a home run by Akil Baddoo in the bottom of the ninth inning.
As for the winner of the game, Luis Severino seems to have found his formula and got his second victory in a row, after participating in seven scoreless innings and fanning eight opponents.
With his work this Monday, Severino has thrown 13.2 scoreless innings in his last two appearances, adding to his record two of the four victories the Yankees have achieved in the last 10 games.
In this way, the Yankees manage to react with a victory that comes after losing to the Tampa Bay Rays and reaching just two victories in the last 10 games.
