The regularization committee that FIFA imposed on August 29, 2022 on the El Salvador Soccer Federation (Fesfut), will remain in force for at least one more year after the world soccer regulatory body reported it this Monday.

Through a statement, FIFA reported that fundamental tasks have not yet been carried out in the audit of said federation, so the term that was to expire this Tuesday will be extended, one year after its decree.

“This committee has not yet carried out some fundamental tasks, such as an exhaustive audit of the financial records of Fesfut, the adoption of the new statuses in compliance with the provisions of the FIFA Status and that of Concacaf, and it is not has carried out the elections of a new Executive Committee of the federation”, reads the text.

FIFA established that the main task of the regularization committee was to review the statutes of the Salvadoran sports entity and hold a congress for the election of the new authorities.

Similarly, he indicated in the letter that “given the circumstances and with the objective that the regularization committee completes its mission, the Bureau of the FIFA Council decided to extend its mandate until August 31, 2024.”

FIFA decided to form a regularization committee after the Salvadoran Football Federation was left without authorities after the end of the period – on July 31, 2022 – of the leaders.

Before that, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) raided the Fesfut facilities, in San Salvador, as part of an investigation for alleged fraudulent administration and money laundering in a complaint filed by a government sports entity.
